Early euro door pull handle for RHD cars

Hey guys im looking for a left side Euro door armrest with the pull handle like the right side has here in the USA. Are these available ? Could any of you RHD people across the big drink help me locate one ? I see many members from australia and great britain on this site. How about japan ? If someone can help reach me directly at kurt@digitalprovisions.com Oh yea its needed for the 1969 to 1973 interior. What was porsche thinking with our setup ? Theres no easy way to pull the door closed. Thanks

Kurt Williams

Kurt,

you want one of these, don't you:

Very hard to get unless someone is stripping out the doors for RS panels (I have thought about it!). I would have thought that the handle would be pretty intrusive for the driver? I close mine with the pockets (but now they have fallen apart!).

I'll keep on the lookout. There are a couple of porsche wreckers here in Syd, but most of their stuff is LHD.

There is a place in Perth, West Australia (Swan Parts) that gets in a fair bit of gear, but normally fairly expensive (plus shipping would be a killer).

UK is probably the best bet. Not much help. Sorry.

No idea what they are worth, but I'm sure you could track down one for that kind of money (that is about $1,000,000,000,000 australian ).

RHD cars will/should have the arm rest you need Kurt. Ahs's car sounds like it has a door pull on the LH side but not on the right. On the RHD (UK) cars I have had arm pulls were on both sides.

I think I have a spare set in the loft somewhere, I will have a look over the weekend and try to get hold of a camera.

Kurt,

your offer is very tempting, but I'm a parts hoarder (much to my wife's distress!). Damn - it would have been good to contribute the the longhood turbo project!!! I will have to look at changing my hoarding ways .

I'll shoot some emails to the parts guys out this way and see what I come up with. Hopefuly Alan can help.

Interesting to see the UK delivery cars have the handles on both sides. All the Aust. delivery cars only have the one (the reverse of the US delivered cars). One problem I've seen on the Australian ones (and I suspect also on the west coast US) is that the heat warps the area around the plastic latch making it look a little old and tired. Don't think there is an easy way to fix this either.

Good luck. I'll let you know if I find one (I know one of the guys in the Sydney club is also searching for one to replace his worn out handle).

Ash

Hi kurt,

Well I made it up to the loft and found it. I have given it a quick clean (hence the artificial shine). It is in good condition but has lifted slightly around the door handle itself. This may be able to pull done if some weight is applied.

I have also had a few emails about this part, I didn't realise it was so rare. Also I have seen to other UK rhd cars recently and both did not have 2 door handles, which makes my old S (pics above) quite unique with two door handles.

Thanks

Is that the only damage or is there other areas as well ? How much is it going to cost me ?

Hi Kurt,

The only other damage I can see is on the bottom of the handle, where the door pocket would sit and hence cover it up. I have attached a picture of the this area.

Also I think the upper handle section must of had a cover on it at some time as you can see a line on it (see very first pic) but I hope this would clean up. I did not look at the back section but can take another photo is required

Overall the condition is good and useable but by no means perfect.

How does £100 UK pounds sound plus shipping. I say pounds as I am also selling my 3.6 motor and working on the wrong exchange rate dramatically altered the final amount.
