"Clickless" ratcheting box wrench?
 

I few years ago I saw a review on some ratcheting box wrenches that I *think* used a different sort of mechanism than the usually pawl and tooth. I *think* they required almost no movement i.e. no even 5 degrees like the Craftsman/Gearwrench ones.
Has anyone tried them?
Does anyone know who carries these?

I have some from Tech wrenches or something -- the most important thing is to get ones that are strong and thin -- the whole idea is you have limited access so you need clearance. I often find that mine won't work.

A mechanic was showing me a new Snap-Off design a month or two ago -- they looked very nice.

By "I often find that mine won't work." do you mean they are too thick/big or that they fail to ratchet?

I have a couple of the Craftsman type that look like a "normal" box wrench and they work pretty well but I'm curious about this new kind.

I sell them. Tech 4 gearless ratcheting box wrenches. They are getting harder to get as they are being discontinued. They work in a tighter area but are not as strong as others. I buy them from Alco manufacturing in Logan, Utah. I own a NAPA auto parts store.

I sell a ratchet that uses the same mechanism. They come in long and short versions, 1/4 and 3/8 drive. Very nifty!!

i have the ratcheting snap-on set , let's just say they are my most usefull hand tools ever :)

are you using the routine Snap-on rachet?
The Snap-On had bigger gears than the Craftsman so the Snap-On needed more of a return swing to find a click.......Ron

Yes, Tech 4 -- that's it. I'm gonna measure the new Snap-Off thickness -- see if that would improve things.

BTW, the little Snap-Off jewelry items that are good for close quarters work (i.e. everything on a Pooschey) are the little swivel sockets in 1/4" drive. Not real strong but fit well in a lot of places. Jerry Woods gave me that tip during his engine class.

After Jerry's class I picked up a Snap-On "Stubby" 3/8 swivel ratchet on eBay. Nice tool!

I recently bought a 12 piece metric flexhead gearwrench set on the advise of some of the Pelican guys that turn them for a living. Excellent tools, 3/4 of the time if they didn't hinge, I wouldn't be able to use them.
