A few exhaust questions

I am going to run SSI's with a Monty Dual Out at 100 mm tips. Does anyone have a soundclip of this setup or a similar setup? WHat would be the estimate of the decibel level? HOw about resonance, I heard Monty had no resonanace. Loud noise + No Resonance= FUn. ALso, I was told that no auto shops would install such a setup because it ran catfree, is this true? BTW my car is an '84 Carrera.

Cool

Monty is not that loud at speed.. It's quieter than my old stock muffler on my car.. The old muffler measured 90db at 70mph with the roof open.. and my Monty has the smaller size dual out than yours..

A Monty is not loud above 3000 rpm, but can be quite droning between 1800 to 2900 rpm. It's also pretty loud at idle. It's presence is quite domineering. I uploaded a sound clip of a single out on my server here. 100 mm tips are quite large and what I would consider ridiculous and rice. The next size down is much more reasonable. The sound clip is here is kind of muffled, and will only is valuable in giving you the idea of the tone. So imagine it being much louder.

Any other pelicans think it will be rice? If so, I will drop to 75 mm's.

yeah me.. the guys who aren't into Monty don't count on this one. Even my duals are a bitt overkill. I'm still not settled in the look. but I just timed brand new E-cams last night and am really excited on listening to some good cam overlap and lift + new carbs..

"It's presence is quite domineering"
--- yep.. explained perfectly IMO..
And I bought them with E-cams/carbs in mind of the future.. so in local traffic it'll be real sweet.. and I grew up with 60's street machines..
One favorite of mine is the sound of the small block chevys with solids/ high lift long overlap cams/ high comp.. I'm running a conservative 8.5 so I think that'll limit my music, whatever........Ron
