The Wonderful Caruretors of Eduardo Weber
from R&T, March 1965, The Wonderful Carburetors of Eduardo Weber, Griff Borgeson, p. 65-70.
"Webers, naturally.. are the best carburetors," but this isn't due to proprietary designs. Instead, it is "the firm's traditional and uncompromising pursuit of quality," .. "the matching of the carburetors to specific engine [types], ... the ease with which jet, emulsion tube and venturi sizes can be changed, [and the] exquisite perfection of manufacture and inspection of each small part of each carburetor." This results from Weber's genesis as a small "artisan" type builder of carburetors for racing cars, and its "four decades of racing experience..." -- Sounds like a parallel to Porsche itself. -- Another key to Weber superiority is ... accepting the challenge of .. Italy's high fuel prices [and the consequent emphasis on] small, high-revving engines.. and has mastered the subtleties of extracting optimum performance at low rpm and low manifold pressures." |
