Black roof spoiler on a midnight blue 911?
I ordered a roof spoiler for my Midnight Blue '86 911 which came pre-painted in Black. I had planned to simply have the roof spoiler repainted to Midnight Blue and then have it installed on my car.
A friend of mine mentioned to me the other day "Why don't you just leave the spoiler painted Black and install it, it'll look cool." So I put the black spoiler on the car today and took some photos of it to see if it looked right. I didnt install the spoiler, just placed it where it should be and got it to stay there for a few minutes. At some angles I can't even tell the color difference but in others I can but it seems to look pretty interesting either way. What do you think, should I install it as is, or have it repainted Midnight Blue ? (I know, I know, I need to wash the car ...)

I like it black. Looks good with the blue. Just looks like part of the black trim.
By the way, where did you get the piece?

I think this is one of those things where you'll be the only one who really notices. The black looks cool too... as long as it doesn't bother you, I would leave it as is.

Since you're asking...I'd paint it.

Leave it. Looks like trim.
Either way would be ok so put the money in the gas tank and drive it. Scott

IMO
the black clashes with the clean look of the roof and body. Kinda makes it to "busy". Like a bathroom full of small 1in black and white tiles

Heh, thanks for all the replies. After looking at the pics, my wallet, and other more important I can put the money towards for the car, I've decided to leave it black. At the very least, it'll definitely be different.
I think it is almost undistinguishable from the body, and even if it is, I agree that it looks like trim then. I didn't think it would look decent until I finally took the pics. Thanks all..

You can hardly tell from the pictures to be honest.

I bought mine pre-painted from a guy on Ebay with the userid "951md" for $103. It is available from an online retailer for $300, but I don't think it's worth that kinda cost.

In terms of installation, see: Roof spoiler and 3rd light hookups

Well, yeah I guess it would show if you were to put your head sideways parallel to the window and look upwards...

Sorry, guess I don't know which strip. I thought it was one continuous w/strip all the way around.
