83 911SC speaker shelf

Group,
I'm planning on re-doing the interior of my 911 coupe. The rear speaker shelf was beat to death, so I figured to start with that. I pulled it out and took off the old upholstery and here's my question. Is the shelf where the speakers are mounted under the rear window supposed to be perfectly flat or does it have a bit of a hill and valley? Mine looks a bit wavy and I'm not sure if I should make a new flat one or if it is supposed to look like this. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
George M.

Mine was SHOT also. I bought some poster board from Home Depot that I used to replace my shelf. It should be FLAT.
