fabspeed air boxes 600% more flow???
Saw an ad. in Excellence for Fabspeed air box's for early 911's claiming a 600% more air flow over stock???.
Any experience anyone? Do they not use a snorkel type setup. Are there any power gains? I remember when I had an 86 Carrera that there were tests with K&N verus stock air box versus no air box and the air flow/power gains were minor, if any. any feed back appreciated Rgds Ben

A different air box could flow 1 billion times more than stock, but if the stock air box can already flow as much or more air than the engine can process, the modified airbox won't do squat for power.
I think it's been fairly well proven that the stock airbox on SCs and Carreras (and on most Porsches, with a couple of exceptions) already flows more than the stock, or even slightly modified, engine can use. |

The fabspeed part for a 3.2L is basically just the top of the airbox cut off with just enough lip to hold the filter in. As Brian said, flowing more doesn't mean diddly if the motor can't handle/doesn't need more.

You can make one with a stock airbox lid and a saw. Hell, if you were so inclined you could even add the shaped lip with some f/g.

I am considering one for room and looks but am concerned that water entry could be a problem if caught in a downpour. Does anyone know if this is a valid concern? Also , is the added induction noise livable?
