Daytona Class Winner - 1967 911s
With all the talks of rising values in these cars, it seems that this car would be a good catch. Anybody know the deal on this?http://www.foreigncoachworks.com/67RaceCar.html

I looked at this ad last week - below is everything they have written on the car. With the deep history and recent work they should come up with a lot more to support the asking price. Depending on the kind of engine and race prep work, I would say the asking price is about a $30,000 premium for it's racing history. High, but not completely out of line if they have good supporting documentation.
"1967 Porsche 911S race car, won class and 7th overall at 1967 24 hours of Daytona. Fresh and ready for vintage racing. $75,000."

More - I could be wrong, but I don't think they were doing those flares in 1967, so those are a more modern upgrade. I know they wouldn't be accepted in most of the "period correct" vintage racing clubs.

I don't know if the flare is original, but the car is fantastic. Randall has had it around the shop for a while, but I always thought of it as more a storage situation for the car's owner than a car that he was pushing to sell. As in, if someone really wants it, it's for sale.
I've always said, if I win the lottery tomorrow I'm calling him to buy. I think it would be really cool to be able to to take that car to Daytona for the Rennsport Reunion in April.

Well I believe the car was at Rennsport 1 in 2001. The story at that time was that the car had been turned back to its original configuration when restored BUT that in its Daytona trim was wearing RS or RSR flares and different bodywork. Never did hear a consistent story - could be a great catch. Who has a picture of the car runnning in the race and which year did it run?
Cool stuff no matter. |

Can't find a photo of that car, although all the 67S racers I've got photos of are non-flared. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the flares were added later - maybe as early as 68 since there were many rear-flared 911's in 1968. -- Curt

Hey grey wolf, thanks for the post. I will continue to search for info and post my results. On a random note, I was looking at your website to see how you had your 2.5 motor jetted. Can you post the weber carb set up you're using? Thanks - Jim

Hey Jim, I'm using the following:
Emulsion Tubes = F26 Venturies = 34mm Air Correction = 180 Mains = 140 Idle Jets = 55 This is a lo-compression engine w/ Solex cams and it runs perfectly. Here's a couple of 67 photos: ![]() ![]() |

Just as a thought to this car. I took a good look at it last night while doing a pre-ppi for another car in that shop. The flares are strange since they only flare out on top but the interesting part? They're hand beaten. On the back side it's all dimples and hammer marks. The owner said that it won daytona without the flares and the flares were beaten in around 1969.
It's very much a track car with things like a can of marvel's mystery oil at the end of the breather tube.
