When I first was introduced to Porsches back in late 73, the guy who was building my car was taking forever. so he offered me his put together car: a 70 coupe that was painted gloss grey with fuchs 9's and 11's, real 73 RSR bodywork, a 915 with lsd, 2 recaro race seats, painted interior, gutted muffler with headers on a mfi 2.5. Lord, it was fast!!!
As i was a just married college student at the time, driving this hot rod around with all the attention it was getting, seemed like a very irresponsible thing to do. Insurance? fuel mileage? the wife? theft target? "Nah, let's finish my targa, it is a much better car" was my response If I knew then..... sigh That is what this black beauty reminds of |

Yes, we did. That car was a 73 S that was originally owned by Bozzani Porsche's John Thomas- quite the Porsche guru in so cal circles for years. He was buddies with Otis Chandler and built up the car as you see it with an iroc tail, Scheel seats (boy those were big seats) and a 2.8. When we bought it , someone had improperly installed a pair of electric mirrors on it. We hung onto it for a while, enjoying some nice weekend "tours" and then sold it to Dale Hersh. From there, we eventually saw it at Dunkel's and then the pix of if showed up from Kentucky
Neat car and it looks much better now with correct tail and losing that mis-directed right mirror |
