Euro and smog check
Iv'e seen two Euro models for sale (79-82) and was wondering what is different with the Euro models.
Would they pass a smog check? |

I have a 1980 Euro and passed the RI emission test. It doesn't have a CAT or the air pump. I had to lean out the fuel mixture to pass, failed the first time on % C0. The spec for RI is less than 2.5%, I measured 3.6% then 0.09% after leaning it out.
After re-reading your question, my car was produced in early 1980 so it has a K-Basic CIS setup, a pre-muffler instead of a CAT and the air injection system. The WUR is a 911.606.105.09 type and the fuel distributor is different too. The engine is a type 930/09 and has 8.6:1 compression ratio. It closely resembles a US 1979 SC with premuffler instead of a CAT. The 78 Euro model would be setup like mine.

I have a 1980, it passes Pennsylvania smog without a cat. Mine does have an air pump that I hook up before the test.
