best paint

Which of top of the line paints from Sikkens, Glasurit and PPG is the best? This is to paint a bare metal aluminum car, so I do not have to match a pre-existing paint. I want something very close to BMW Mauritius Blue, but I would prefer top quality finish and durability over an exact match to the factory color.

Thanks

I've got a vehicle with PPG on it and I'm impressed, that's hard for me to say because I sell another brand. I think the most important thing is the painter.

Sikkens, Glasurit and PPG are all superior products, but it's the hours of proper preparation and what JC930 said about the painter.

Pick a Paint any Paint!!

Lewis:

The shop that is restoring my car uses DuPont. I spent a bunch of time reading and writing to Threads about paints. Everyone seems to agree on the following:

1. The quality of the preparation is more important than the brand of paint.

2. The painter's experience with a particular paint is more important than the reputation of any other brand.

3. Paints are designed to be single stage or dual stage paints. There is a difference in finish between these two that is more significant than the finish of the paint. Decide what you want.

I am sure that there are other things, too. But this is what I gathered as important things from what was said to me.

I agreed with the experience/effort/quality thing.
The guys that painted my car practiced with cheap paint on the filter housing that came out super-glossy but chipped easily.
They either didn`t wait to/or didn`t sand the primer(evercoat) before applying the base coat(PPG), so the color base became wavey after a few months.
The clear coat(Dupont premier) is clear in the can(compared to the yellowish PPG), thick and glossy, and gets "oohs", but is super sensitive to micro-scratches. I don't know if it's the product or whether they cut the clear the day after while it was still soft.
