Talking Joining the "Club"

Barring any unforseen disasters, I will be heading to NC to pick up my new 83 Targa tonight. I will post some photos and whatnot when I return.

Many thanks to Keith (KC911) and Tim (l33t9eek) for checking it out on Wednesday!!

See you all on the flip side as an owner!
Steve

Welcome to the wild side.

P.S.,

Had to work hard yesterday. So as a reward, I bypassed the Freeways and took my SC to Pacific Coast Highway (to cruise and enjoy the sea and sunset), to the windy canyon roads (for the 5K RPM/leg stretching/tail almost-whipping, moisture burning exercises), and, Boy, what a stress-reliever!!!!! HEEEEEEE HAHHHHHHH!

Welcome aboard! Come out and join the NoVA gang during one of the next fun runs...it's a blast.

....pssst...."you didn't hear this from me" - beware, you might experience an engine drop before you actually get to drive your car.

Post some pics once you pick her up!

Welcome to the gang, Steve. Since you live in NoVA, I need to ask...when's your engine drop planned?

Hi Steve, Hope you made it back to NoVA without incident...now wipe that silly p-car grin off your face! Glad to have been of assistance with your purchase, and good luck with your new 'baby'! Sorry we didn't meet up today, but we'll have to get together for a 'fun run' some time...enjoy!

yeah.. I read that the NoVa area is some kind of 911 twlight zone capital of the country. I thought it was all rumor.

I bet what happens is that Light comes alive when it hits a "mass", could be the wall, the shoe, the person.
Then all "mass" is composed of protons, electrons, etc. The point is mass = magnetic fields, no kidding.
So all Light is electro drawn to the mass's magnetic flux.
So the most efficent Light is the angle that's the shortest distance. I think the word for the inner angle is called ?
So the 911 engine has big energy flux, no kidding.
And the shortest distance of all the angles that are scattered all over the whole country is in the NoVa area.
So the 911 engine Is the most mass receiving the most energy, which equals dropped engines all over.
so I'd be concerned about being enLightened
....... Ron

Hehehe...it's all true, Ron. We drop engines left and right. We dropped one today, another will fall in a week or two. Three of us with 993's are busy planning transaxle only drops. You'd think we never drive our cars 'cause they're sans engines...but we drive a lot, too. How could this be? Come to NoVA..."it is another dimension: a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into... the Twilight Zone."

You can't go wrong with an '83 SC. Has to be the best of the SC's. Now if you would have gotten a Cab ...

Talking I'm back!!!

OK, we made it back!

An exciting journey, but tiring. Getting into Greensboro at 1.30 am to jump back in the car (even a new p-car) for what ended up being a 7 hour drive was a bit taxing.

Some thoughts:
-Thank goodness there are two sets of heat controls. My wife was trying to sweat me out (and I wanted to take off the roof).
- The radio is clearly not important at certain speeds, you can't hear it.
- My body is not used to a sports car suspension. (Maybe I'll blame this one on Amtrak - our ride down).
- It is DAMN FUN taking the scenic byways of VA and rolling past the beautiful sights.
- I can't wait until spring.
- Pelican members are the best! (Thanks Keith and Tim for previewing my new ride)!

The specs:
- 1983 SC Targa
- Rosewood exterior (tan interior)
- 99,150 miles (at purchase)
- 99,500 miles (today!!)
- one owner (a Dr who passed it to his wife in 1992 with 83K miles)

Following are some lousy photos (of course it had to rain part of the day yesterday )

Can someone tell me what these two devices are in the last photo? (Under the heater controls and to the right of the heater controls....
