Passing the torch
I remember the day my dad pulled over and asked me if I wanted to drive his 1970 albert blue 911T. I was almost 17 and it changed my life forever. I have since owned more aircooled VW's than I can count, 3 911's, a 914, a 356c, and even a 924.
Well tonight I pulled over and handed the keys over to my almost 17 year old daughter, she was in shock. It was only for about half a mile but it was enough, she still can't wipe the smile off her face. All she can talk about is "braggin to the guys at school!" The only problem now is I have to hide the keys! |
Very cool Xlnt..... I plan to teach my 15 year old daughter to drive soon. Her first driving experience in a Porsche I'm sure to leave a serious mark on her life. BTW No doubt on the keys. My son at 12 can drive my crew cab not so sure that was a good idea. We were out rideing motorcross bikes for the weekend and I had him move the truck to the other side of the camp. His smile was worth a million bucks as I'm sure your daughters was. Best of luck

maybe take her to a few autocrosses in spring to educate her on how to (and not to) drive the car.......if anything it'll give you piece of mind and some "bonding" time with your daughter :)
oh.......and cool dad :D |
Some times I find drool on my keys. I have a 19yr old son, he drives a Jetta VR6. I park a truck behind my car, I hope the garage never catches on fire.

Dang!
I learned to drive on my dad's forklift around construction sites. |
My daughter will get her licence at the begining of the year. I'm giving her my 96 Mustang, the 911 is off limits.

Back in 85' my father and I were driving down the 5 south just north of Pendleton when I was 15 years old and just got my permit. He pulled over at that rest area and let me drive his car. It was a huge deal! Left a lasting impression for me and him. The car he let me drive was an 85' vette. Now I own all German cars. It's a good thing he taught me young. Thanks, dad!
