Market value for '76 Carrera 3.0L 911?

Ok Gang,

I'm eliciting the assistance of my fellow pelicanites to help determine a fair replacement value for a 1976 Carrera 3.0L 911. Here are some basic details:

81,000 total miles. Approximately 25k miles on recent rebuild including necessary upgrades-- Carrera tensioners, studs, etc..

recent suspension -- shocks, sways, t-bars

no rust issues, decent paint & interior

one owner for last 20 years

well maintained, but not a "show" car.

What's your opinion of realistic replacement cost? I'm helping someone determine a realistic value for this car.
Any other pricing/valuation sources you'd recommend us looking into?

Thanks gang!

-Jeff

3.0l 1976 carrera featured in september 2003, 911& porsche world, page 104, "While they're not exactly given away, you'll still see them advertised for L10,000 pounds or less" "Carrera 3.0 prices are rising" 'The highest carrera 3.0 price he's aware of was L18,995 being asked for a silver, maula coupe in april 2003 "

This is in Europe ofcourse, just to give you a indication of prices, you''ll have to do the conversion from poundsterling to us dollars.

regards,
Gerko

Does anyone know rare is the 1976 3.0 Carrera?

Rareness aside what would be the pros and cons with one of these cars versus say a late model 80-83 SC?

TIA!

Hi Anthony,
I don`t know the exact numbers, but there where around 1300 `76 & around 1400 `77 Carrera 3.0 built. The only years for this model. Non where impoted to this country.I don`t know how many are now in this country. Does any one out there know? Pros & cons? The SC was based on this car so they are very similar. The Carera 3.0 is lighter, lower& more powerful, the SC more modern. Also the first 911 cabrolet was offered as an `83 SC. All good cars--------

Here's the car I was thinking about:

http://www.craigslist.org/pen/car/22929439.html

It appears to be in great shape but I've found out that it's a high mileage car (200K miles) with 60K on the rebuilt engine and less than 10K on the rebuilt tranny and clutch. If I buy a 911 I'd rather have a lower mileage cream puff.

An estimated 3691 Carrera 3.0s - including 1125 Targas - were built (for Europe only) between 1975 and 1977. It was optionally available in Sport form, too, with Bilstein suspension and wider wheels.

I have one of the last 100 ( 1977 ). The issue would be, when was it imported ? Was it screwed up, if it was federalized ? An early import.

The issues I think are bumpers, bumper shocks, door beams. Noah can chime in here. He's done more research than me.
