Wow that was a lot of work. Good job. What is the aprox price of the conversion if you don't mind?

Princeton, very cool, looks like it should have cut down on lots of rotational mass a fair amount, I guess it did since you said it revs like mad now. Did you check the weights of the old parts and the new parts to compare? Interesting, that throwout bearing/clutch release mechanism is the same setup that is used on many of the late model GM front wheel drive cars.

Your car is looking good. What other things have you done? I remember you posting some interior shots a while back. Have you gotten the turbo project going? Since I'm just a poor married guy I have to live vicariously through guys like you and Robert.

Blown- Approximately 7 thousand after new fluids, all the connections, labor etc..

Steve- Yeah it cut down an insane amount. The stock flywheel alone is 32lbs. Also I believe the stock clutch pack assembly was around 15-20 lbs. So I lost at least 30lbs in weight here.

Hmmm, since the last time you saw the car at Roberts house it lost about 400 more lbs in excess weight, a new wing is on it (AIR version of the GT2 wing with carbon upper boomerang from a GT2. The turbo project was put on hold since the clutch gave out and also because of the bodywork that needed to be fixed. I'll be starting that up again probably the middle of next year. Motec and suspension are coming first.

Princeton, I don't think anyone could call your 993 an overweight luxury sports car. How much weight have you removed?

When I changed the flywheel on my old Datsun from 27lbs to an 11lb one, I thought it was the most noticable performance improvement I'd made and I made a lot.

I've been trying to figure out what to do for a new clutch on my 930. The Tilton is out of the question, but I do want to shave as much weight as possible. One of the clutch companies I talked to recommended against using an aluminum flywheel with a heavy clutch due to flexing when the clutch is disengaged. Anyone have problems with this?

David, I don't know how the 930 compares to the G50, but in the NA/G50 world lots of people seem to think the biggest improvement to be made is by going with a lighter Pressure Plate.

I finally got my car back Fri (that shop is good, but takes forever). It's nice to be driving it again. The drive to work Fri was the best in a long time. They ended up having to cut a bunch of the old heat exchanger apart to get at the nuts that held it on, broke every stud, and had to drill them all out. Glad I didn't tackle the job.
