70E dist. on a 70T?

This should be easy for the ppl in here.
I have the obsolete Marelli ( of course ) in the 70T that I bought three months ago. Seems to run fine, but its down for carb-rebuild right now so I thought I would repaint the engine shroud and upgrade the ignition system. Besides, people always ask the same question when they first approach me about my car. Do you have the original Marelli in there? I didnt even know until last night. That's always the case with this car. The more I tear into it, the more I realize that the PO's never upgraded sh_t.

So the question is...
70E BOSCH hook up easily to my car or do I need some kind of conversion kit? Also , I ve seen the T's listed as a different part on PP. SO I am making the beginner's assumtion that an E dist. wont easily adapt to my puny T?
Thanks in advance...

Hmm.. Other than a recurve it should drop straight in. The advancing curve is probably different though.

I dunno but from what I've read I think the curve is kind of similar even though it's a mfi system like the "S".
The "S" curve is way different (I think advances to soon)and should be avoided on a "T".
The midyears (untill 77) can be used, but it has to be machined down around the base/to/block area where the clamp hold it in place. The shaft length/gear teeth is the same-I think/please double check- until the SC's.
Dang those galvenized bodys and diehard aluminum blocks.

The 2.2E Bosch distributor will bolt right in ... no modifications needed to wire it to your 'T' engine.

The 2.2E distributor is identical to the 2.2S distributor except for the rev limiter rotor fitted, so it isn't optimal for a 'T' engine ... with the aggressive advance curve of the 'S' distributor, but it can be recurved. Check the archives with a search on "distributor advance recurving" ... several posts have been made with shops that can do the work for a nominal fee.

Install the E distributor, adjust dwell/point gap, set ignition timing @ 5-10ºBTDC, then go. I had an S distributor in my T engine for years. The compression ratio is low enough you shouldn't have any detonation problems. But if you do, you could play with the static ignition timing and/or adjust fuel octane. You should experience a slight increase in midrange torque. You could even increase venturi and jet size size a little if you can find those parts for the Solex carbs.
