Source for 17" fuchs-Welded barrels
 

I have called Lindsay's, but they don't have any 9" barrels, so I would have to go with a 9.5" rim in the rear (85 Carrera - I think I would have to move oil lines which might be a pain). I am specifically interested in the welded ones as they have a really classic look to them.

A few people have mentioned in the past that they have other sources who also weld together wheels, and they were possibly in California.

Since I am thinking of having these made - has anyone used 8" custom made Fuchs in front?

I could be wrong, but I think a properly setup 9.5 will work without moving the oil lines. I think it is when you get into the 10 10.5 range that it starts to be a real problem. I'm sure someone will set this straight before too long.

That's what I understand too. 9.5 and you should be fine. Nice 255 or 265 and you are set.

Yes. That's what Jack Olsen used to run in the front of the first Black Beauty car (1970 T with SC/Carrera flares in the rear).

I think Tyson Schmidt is currently running them on his 72 cabrio bad boy. 9's in the rear ? and 8's in the front.

I think it was that picture that gave me inspiration to go as big and wide as possible with my cab. Damn you Tyson!

Bill Verberg is the wheel master of the universe. He can probably give you some insight on the best custom offset for the front.

I run 9.5x17 and 255 tires on my '88 with no oil line mods. Those 17" Fuchs are sooo cool.

They will fit fine. I have Jack's other set on my project car. No mods necessary except maybe a little more camber depending on your alignment settings.

Yeah, Jamie has my former 9-inch rears, and Tyson has my old 10-inchers. I think you'll be fine with 9.5's in back.

Both Jamie and Tyson have the same 8-inchers in front. Plenty of room for 8's, with the Lindsey backspacing/offset.

I'd offer to let you test fit my current 9.5 fronts on your car's rear, but we did custom work on the front suspension, widening the track, and I think we set up the backspacing differently.

Jack-What is the brake clearance on these? Since they are based on 16x6 fuchs, I'm guessing the spoke clearance would be the same?

Yes. They're fine on stock brakes. I needed a tiny (1/8 inch) spacer to clear one set of the calipers (the fronts, I think).

Do you have to run 17s? Lindsey can also make any offset in 16s.
