Headers are finally done

HP-junkies and other interessted:

We finally got our headers TIG-welded. As you can see, our TIG-welder didn't quite use our detailed CAD-model, but he was very creative and used non-standard pieces of tubing to create pretty compact headers with almost equal-length primaries (even if it's not required in turbocharged cars). There is still some work to do, as porting of collector and sand-blasting weld seams.
As always, headers are compromise between space and teoretical model, but we are quite pleased.

Love It....a work of art.

What does one do to smooth out the welds on the inside of the pipe? Aside from a process such as extrudehone I can think of a clean way to do it.

Well it's quite easy actually...you use Argon as so called "root gas"...with other words, you fill pipes with inert gas before TIG-welding them...thay way, molten stainless rod flowing trough the seam doesn't oxidate forming "mushrooms" inside but just flows out making a smooth weld. Of course, we'll sand-blast and polish them later on. Material used is SS2333.

Here's one more pic (cheesy spangled fabric wasn't my idea, i promise! :D Our welder just needed some promo-pictures):
