NC Pelican ride - Nov. 8th

Now that the date is closer, I wanted to make sure everyone is still interested in the ride scheduled for this weekend, Saturday the 8th. Our starting point will be the parking lot at the summit of Pilot Mountain State Park at 9:00. If you need directions to the park click here. We'll plan on leaving the parking area and starting the ride about 9:30.

The route plan is to head to King and over to 66. Going north up to 89, we'll head to Mount Airy and on up to the Parkway. After heading south on the Parkway we'll join 18 and go down into Wilkesboro.

It seems like it's been a while since our last ride, hope to see a bunch of you there.

I'm definitely in! Are there plans for a caravan from the Charlotte area yet?

Not sure if it is faster to get to Pilot Mountain by running up 77 or 85.

I would like to meet and drive up with the Charlotte crowd, just give me a time and place.

re: caravan - Not yet, but we'll make some. Maybe somewhere on the I-85 side this time since we'll head up 52 from I-85 to get there. Any ideas?

Is there somewhere to meet at the Dale Earnhardt Blvd. exit on I-85? How about the Steak & Shake parking lot.

Omar, how long should it take to get to that starting place from Concord? I'm thinking we should be on the road by 8 or before in order to be up there around 9 - 9:15

enjoy the run!

hey guys the drive sounds cool. I wish that I could make it down for it. I will be down there around the 20th and if anyone is free I'd like to grab a beer and talk P-cars and NC. I expect to move soon and will probably be in the Charlotte area. Now here is the problem - I don't have A/C! So that will be the first project.

There is a rest area right by DE Blvd. on 85, which might be a possibility (easy on, easy off). However, if guys are looking to gas up before we go, then somewhere on DE Blvd. would be better. From there you're probably looking at a good hour-and-a-half to Pilot Mountain, assuming OK traffic.

Hal, maybe I could meet you at your house and we could meet the Charlotte guys on 85, since I'll basically be coming right by your house to get there.

The other option would be to take 77 to 268 near Elkin, and 268 east goes right to Pilot Mountain.

1 hour to winston salem and then another 20 to 30 minutes to pilot mountain.

If we are to meet at 9 in pilot mountain I would say we should meet around 7 to 7:15 to allow gas up ect.

Greetings from Las Cruces, NM! As of now it is a little better than 50/50 that I'll make it. I'll check the thread again on Thursday to see what's up with the caravan.

Trent, actually you, me and a new guy in Mooresville that we can go over to I-85 together.

Cool. I'll go right through Mooresvillle. Is he a Pelicanhead? PM me some directions and we'll firm up a time to meet. Maybe I can swing by and hook up with him and then head to your place.

I'm not sure which exit # it is but it will be the exit after High Point road. (I'll try and grab some exit #'s for you right after this)

If you'd like to do breakfast there I'd say about 7-7:15 if not about 8 or so.
