Engine at Full Throttle Problem!!!
 

I'm looking for a little guidance on this one. I own a 78 SC with a Eurospec 3.0 CIS engine. My problem - when I am accerlerating at full throttle the engine hesistates/stumbles. I can accelerate hard without any problem as long as I walk the throttle in slowly. I had this problem about six months ago and my local Porsche mechanic/friend sent me down to get some 119 octane fuel to mix with a full tank of 93. I did do this and suprisingly the problem was gone! However since this hesitation has occured again, recently I did try the fuel treatment again and unfortanately, I still have the problem. Has anyone experienced such a problem like this with their 3 liters or have any suggestions on what my problem may be???

I would check the ign and the fuel sys. Making sure the wires are good and the fuel pressures are in spec. Then I would adj the mixture. I would also get another mechanic

Check insulation around the wires carefully... (Especially grounds) Watch for exposed wire.

I agree on the ignition wires. Check plugs cap and rotor as well.

Yep. Also check the ground wire from the points (pertronix, whatever). Make sure that wire is sound, and the +/- wires to the coil are good. The heat degraded/cracked the insulation on mine over time.

Thanks for the input guys. So you all seem to think it's an ignition problem? I was thinking that since it runs fine under normal loads that it would be some sort of fuel/vaccum problem but thats why I'm here asking for some help. I have checked the pressures throughtout the fuel system and it all checked good. I suppose I could see how at full throttle with the shifting of the engine this could effect some sort of ground connection. I will definately look into this later on tonight. Thanks.
