Anyone Driven Mid-Ohio???

I visit Mid-Ohio for the SCCAs during the summer, and have always been tempted to do their driving school. If I remember correctly, $700 with my car, $800 with the Integra-R. Anyone been there / done that???

I've done about 10 2 day DE's there. It's a very good course. Why not just do a DE with a Porsche club. Even if you don't own one, or region will let you in with the right car, (no vans or SUV's ) Much less expensive also.

I have to echo 89911's response to this. There are several PCA regions which do DEs at Mid-Ohio and the instructors are better versed in the (ahem) unusual handling characteristics of your car. Mid-Ohio is one of the most challenging, technical courses I have ever driven and there is no substitute for good instruction and seat time if you want to drive it well.

I've done several DEs there and it seems like a WAY better deal to do DEs than their driving school. In 2 days, you get 8-10 half hour runs in. For $300 or so, that's not bad.

Driven the track, but not in their cars... They have these spec cars, looks like fun.

I raced GP bikes there several times in the mid-70's. The course is awesome. I'll tell you what, that turn at the end of the long straight (Turn 4?) will test your resolve to late brake.

I'm hoping to do a PCA Potomac DE at Mid-Ohio in 2004. Looks like a lotta fun.

I first started doing driver's ed/track events 15 years ago at Mid Ohio with a group called Track Time. They may still be around? It was a great deal, and believe it or not, there were a lot of Porsches doing the Track Time events. It's definitely a great track. I've PCA club raced there a couple of times. I equated it to a mini Road Atlanta with a lot of elevation change and challenging corners... just not as high a terminal velocity.

Mid-Ohio is an absolute blast. I've done about 4 weekend DEs there. I too would recommend hooking up with a PCA region. The cost is about $350-375 for two days (~3 hours of track time).

Also, M-O sells a video made by their chief instructor of the MO school that is very good. You can get it on there website. I think it is called "In the Driver's Seat."

Here is a link:

Hope to see you there sometime.
