The best $400.00 I ever spent.
Our family races early Porsches so we are always looking for good race stuff. I'm in the process of gathering all the parts for a new race engine. I called a semi-local, small european car repair shop. I have called him before and bought 4 15x7 Fuchs for $550 in the past. I asked if he had any old cranks, he replied I have a couple that are STD/STD... I get a little excited because they are what I'm looking for. I asked if he has any more 15X7's fuchs... he said he found one in his barn he would sell me cheap... I get more excited... I shoot from the hip and ask you have any early 911 Aluminum cases.. He says yes I do... Funny you should ask because I was getting ready to throw it out!!!!! His barn was getting full! Now I'm really excited... I said THROW IT OUT! (calmly). I'll give you $200 for the case..... he then said OK. Then he said the crank in there is good because he took it out running and replaced it with a 2.7 "years ago".... I then understand it is a full LONG BLOCK! I then said "Well since it is a long block I will give you $400" He says come and get it!
It pays to call around. Here is my nice new purchase. A 1966 911 2.0L Aluminum longblock. It is like Christmas already.

That's my other semi new toy. It came from Costco. It is very High quality. I feel it is better than most of the Snap-On chests out there. All ball bearing and tons of room. Best of all the price was only $600 or $650 (another good buy
)... Thats it. It will last forever. Here is a pic.

Nice shooting! I always enjoy your posts and race videos, (or is that the Scotts?), anyhow, keep 'em coming! I am going to try to make it to Willow this weekend, if so I'll stop by.

Sams has a SS tool chest that is not quite as serious as Chad's. I think the price is around $400.00

How about some twin plug heads and S cams to go with that new motor of yours?

Thanks Guys-
Yes the Chest is an incredible deal.... And it is super heavy (Unfixed you are right about the truck thing)! It comes in two big boxes. I had to wiggle the big box out of my truck myself. Then assembled the lower section (attach wheels and handle). I then assembled the upper section in the truck bed then slid it over on top of the lower section (I could not wait for any help from friends :P). It goes together easy and is very functional. You can keep hanging file folders in one section (Where I keep all my reciepts) Spud (Doug)- My Dad's project is still coming along. I think I work on it more than him. He just came out of retirement again and is doing P.I. stuff so that makes the project go a little slower. Hows My old RS clone doing on the track? Any other Mod's? WRX Paul- trust me that ladder does not move ![]() Speeder- 1 video is from Marks's car the rest are from mine. I have not updated the site since the end of July... I will soon. RPMClassic- We are not allowed to twin plug our race motors but if you have an extra set of carb 911S cams let me know by PM
