Gunson Help - Hose Moifications?

I have tried to search for it but can not
locate the thred that explaines the hose
mod's for the unit. It described replaceing the hoses
due to the original ones melting. I have ordered
the Gunson and need to find that information so I can
make those adjustments. What kind of hose could I use?
Radiator hose?
Any one remember it?
Any other new Gunson GasTester tips are welcome and
appreciated.

Thanks to all for your help.....This board is a wealth
of information.

Thanks K.T.

Cool Gas Tester

All you really need to do is follow the instructions very carefully.
If your car has a cat on it, you will have to pull the O2 sensor in order to insert the probe ahead of the converter. Other than getting ahead of the cat. converter, just follow the istructions!

Good Luck,

You can cobble something up with a short length of rigid brake line and some adapters to the PVC hose that Gunson uses. See your local auto parts store. This will help insulate the exhaust heat from melting the PVC (good to about 200º and that's it).

Kevin:
The hose that came with my Gunson Digital CO Meter is just plain old vinyl hose you can buy at the hardware store. I think it's either 1/4" ID or 5/16" ID.

There are two short pieces about 12" long. One goes from the unit to the diaphragm and the other is the moisture drain.

The vinyl hose to the exhaust pipe is about 6-7 feet long and has a 12" piece of 1/4" copper tubing stuck in the end which is what goes up the exhaust pipe about 8". It has a coil spring at the tip to hold the copper tube in the center of the exhaust pipe.

You must use clear vinyl hose on the exhaust hose so you can see through it in case moisture builds up as liquid and blocks off the hose, this does happen when the hot gas cools.

The Gunson web site has the instructions which you can download.

Good luck,
Ron D
