Thermostat question
I noticed on the way in to work today that the oil temp never reached 180, 160 seemed to be as high as it would get. (Cool Chicago day) I am beginning to wonder if my thermostat is no good. In the summer, if I drive on the highway for a long time. it will heat up to 210 - 220. Now with cooler weather, it does not seem to reach 180. This makes me think the thermostat is stuck open.
This is a 69T with a 2.2T that has some modifications, no front oil cooler and a 930 style tail that is completely open for air to flow to the engine. Do you think it is possible the thermostat is bad? Is it just not developing heat due to the amount of air flow over the engine? Thanks

Could be normal. How long did you drive and what was the outside temperature?
