The deed is done, CIS nevermore

I did it, Last night was beautiful here in west Michigan so I found myself in the garage looking at the 930, drinking a beer, and convincing myself to take the plunge and pull the CIS system. It came out easy enough, and I put everything in large sealed plastic bags including every nut and washer inviolved in its removal. It is amazing how much room that stuff takes up and it really opens your eyes to just how low the motor sits in there! This weekend may see the engine removal so here we go, wish me luck.

Are you going to reuse the CIS or go with an something different? If so I could use the WUR.

Going EFI. I would like to sell the system complete. I have two interested gentlemen who will get first shot, after that we will see.

I have to hand it to you. When you say it you do it.

Now on to a programmable EFI system....

Too funny, Useually when I make these snap decisions it ends up costing me some serious Olsen, and I don't expect this time to be much different:)

Good luck!

For others of us that are tempted by this venture, please keep us posted on the planning and progress of this venture. I'm sure others like myself would like to hear your thoughts and reasons for decisions along the way. I know its been done before, but each case and individual will do things for different reasons with different outcomes. Are you thinking Porsche OEM parts bin or aftermarket? Good luck

Two Pelicanheads have recently done DIY conversions from CIS to EFI. Here is a link to tbitz's webpage documenting his project...

http://www.geocities.com/tbitz/cis_to_efi.html

He had lots of fabricating skills and made his own fuel rails and such. For a different perspective, here is a link to a CIS -> EFI thread in which Ben Willis posted pictures and info on his conversion...

Ben's conversion used a 3.2 liter carrera intake manifold and required less harcore fabrication. Both examples are supremely beautiful. I was hoping (planning) to follow in their footsteps, but my CIS car...ummm...blew up before I got the chance...:(
