Restoration begins

Well I bought a 72 911s from a listing on this site. I ended up picking the car up on Saturday and got to tow it back through some pretty bad weather. Well the car and I both survived the trip. I don't think the wife is to impressed but she's use to me and my toys.

Im sure I'll be bugging everyone with guestion on how some of the pieces go back together.

Ill take some pics tommorow. The ones I have now are to large and I don't know how to change them.

The current plan is paint first, then redo the interior. Once I get it back on the road Ill deceid if the engine and trans need anything. I plan on doing as much of the work I can myself with the help of my twin 20yr old sons.

Well wish me luck.

Mark.

Nice car. We'd love to see pics. If you can't resize them send them to me (tim @ uncg.edu) and I'll resize them for you.

Any rust on the car?

Ouch, you towed it back this weekend? I'm in Kansas, and I know I wouldn't have wanted to tow anything in our 6+ inches of snow. Glad you made it ok, congrats on the new toy.

a) Purchase a car
b) Attend a gathering or drive
C) attend a track day or race
d) feel like showing off.

Yea the weather was nasty. It was clear when I left St. Louis but about 150 miles from Kansas City it got bad. It was bad all the way back. Their was a bad wreak at Columbia and I was parked on I-70 for about a Hour and a half. My little Cherokee pulled it just fine. Luckly I didn't have to make any quick stops.

The car is pretty solid. The carpet is all pulled out and the pans look good. The only rust found so far is the passenger fender in front of the door and the drivers side door post . I have a fender to replace it with so I should be good there. Ill probably just buy the replacement door post from pelican.

I've got a bunch of stuff to sort through. Lots of spare and new parts. Also the original MFI and 2.4s pistons and cylinders, distributor and other various things.

Mark, glad to hear you made it back ok, I was a little nervous when you left.

I'll take the liberty and post a pic I took a few days before you picked it up.

Hooray! another early car coming back to life!...seems to be missing a few parts, from your pic it looks like it may get a little cold with no windshield. But hey that's the real old school driving experience.....I like it.
