Solving a fuel starvation problem
 

This is a question for a friend...
He's got a 71 T with Zenith carbs, it's been sitting for a while(started up every month but not driven regularly for about 2 years), but it starts up just fine. No smoke/very little white smoke on startup. During driving it has a tendency to stall, especially on a decline (i.e. stopping at a stop sign at the bottom of a hill). While on flat ground, however, it runs fine, and accelerates fine. The stalling is intermittent, and sometimes is not a complete stall but merely severe power loss. We were thinking about checking into the fuel filter and fuel lines, carburetor, or maybe fuel tank blockage thinking maybe some deposits are gunking up the system. Any thoughts? Best place to start looking? Oh, and what's the easiest way to get to the fuel filter. We've checked the Haynes manual, but for some reason we can't seem to decipher it. :o

Did you ever consider that it might be loading up on decel?

That's what happens when your rpm transducer is not working or is disconnected, not allowing needed air on decel to prevent overrich on overrun.
