Praise the Lowered

It was time to lower my cab to a tad lower than Euro ride height.

Thanks to kstylianos's help, my cab now sits the way it should have from the factory.

We reindexed the rear spring plates, replaced the spring plate bushings, and added steering rack spacers to the front.

Here are some pictures from last Saturday: (Be sure to click Show All)

http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mustangvu/lst?.dir=/Praise+the+Lowered&.src=ph&.view=

The car now sits 25" front and 24" rear.

Ride feels great! We did some donuts in a parking lot to make sure nothing rubbed or bottomed out. Thank goodness for my fat fenders!

Some local NoVa members stopped by. We even had a guest appearance of two Lotus Espirits. One with a twin turbo V-8 the other with a turbo 4 cylinder.

What a great Saturday!

Porsche Crest Question:

In this pic, are you installing the bump steer kit?

If so, I have always wondered how you gain room to sandwich the spacer in between the body and the rack.

Do you simply pull down on it as soon as you drop the nuts? (That sounds too easy...)

I used the pry bar to gently lift the rack up as I squeezed the spacers into place.

Be careful not to puncture the rubber boots as you try to position the pry bar in place. Also, that you are not pinching any hoses above the rack.

Ahhh, yes, I missed your signature hyper-link! When I go to 225-45-16s on the fronts, I plan on lowering and corner balancing mine as well. I need to get to where you are! It's amazing how much difference it makes!

Cheers!

Paul

I have the same thing planned for my Cab next week - have already done the mod in Photoshop, so I know what it will look like

Headlight trim-rings have recently been painted, took the decision based on this Photshop-modded picture.
Haven't decided on the clear turn-signal lenses yet, though... clear lenses make the car look younger, but I feel the car needs something that stands out from all the black.

Bill,

Funny you mention that...the other day I had a cute girl lean out of the passenger side of a car screaming "I love your car!! Can I ride with you?" Of course I smiled and said "sure" Unfortunately, the guy driving didn't agree and didn't stop for her to get out. I could see her hitting him as they drove away. It was pretty comical.

Bo,

It's amazing what a few inches in ride height makes a car look. While you're doing the job, you think all this work to get the car a little lower But when it's all done, it's absolutely worth it. As for the turn signals, I say stick with the orange...Good luck!
