Before I install the 915...

I'll be ready to mate the tranny to my 3.0 in the next few days. Is there anything I should do to check the tranny, or seals to replace or something before I install it. Not sure of the history of the tranny other than it came out of the car that my 3.0 was in and had been sitting a while.

I already have a bottle of swepco oil to use.

Thanks and Happy turkey day!

As these seals age, they all tend to leak. I would do all of the following if the tranny was out, but here they are in order of importance (to me).

mainshaft seal
guide tube O-ring
shift shaft seal
output shaft seals (2)
end cover gasket
reverse shaft O-ring
shift cover plate gasket

These all come in a set, but if you want to do just the seals, that might be good enough too.

A good idea to clean the tranny and install a new ground strap as wells as the clutch routing strap.

Good idea to install some cheap gear oil, then drive 100 miles, drain and then refill with SWEPCO.

Also, how are the shifter bushings?
