Fellas,
When I removed my valve covers, a stud backed out because the nut was stuck on the end. I took some heat to it and removed the nut, but I found out why it was stuck so tight. The stud was cross-threaded (I hope I didn't do it) and I need another to get this project done this weekend! If anyone can help prior to SUN evening, I'd really, really appreciate it! R/ D ![]() |

I took a small jewlers file to the stud and it threads much easier...almost like new. I HATE half-a$$ing a job, but the car has to be done by MON. So far my Friday project has spilled over into SAT, and looks like well into the evening...ho well, at least I'm learning. I'm sure the next time around will be MUCH easier. Anyway, I do expect my valve train to be a bit louder as the clearances were tight and now probably set on the loose side of .004. Loud does not bother me as much as too tight making the exhaust valves suffer.

You probably already did this, but be sure to Loctite that stud when you put it back in there.
