Hey guys, I'm trying to put the alternator on my rebuilt 3.0 (so close to being done) and went to bolt up the air duct. Low and behold, it doesn't fit. Using a rebuilt bosch unit, the duct won't fit around the outside of the alt. I tried it on the fan and alt I have from a 2.2 and it fits that fine.
So what air duct do I need to make it fit, and does someone have one they don't need? Thanks

You need to make a small modification to the shroud - there's a factory manual page detailing this that I can try to dig up. As I recall, you need to take out about a 2" by 1" section to clear the integrated voltage regulator on the later alternator. A dremel worked for me.

Hey Colin, I don't have the later alt with the integrated regulator. If I were to grind away everything I needed to clear the alt, there wouldn't be anything left to mount too.
Here is a pic of the style of alt I have. ![]()

Hmmm, I just assumed it had a VR because it's a 3.0 - sorry.
