Adhesive to Use on Driver's Side Window
 

I have some Permatex Silicon Adhesive Sealer. Will that work well as an adhesive to fix my passenger window to the horizontal window support? My window came loose from the support and just keeps coming out. I gotta get it fixed before I screw up the whole mechanism.

If not the Permatex, then what do I use???

I had the same problem. At Home Depot I got some "Goop" brand Marine adhesive/sealant and it has been working fine. I believe the marine type is what John Walker told me to use.

The PO must have had the same window problem...found gobs of regular white silicone sealer smeared all over.

Just remove the old stuff well before putting on the new.

I had the same problem and my track was somewhat rusted. I got tired of fooling with it and used Liquid Nails. Never coming out again!

sikaflex 292 marine silicone caulk. liquid nails sounds like a good idea too.

Same thing with me/Marine Goop did well. Used that on John Walker's reccomend. Loks like he's on to something else now.

Whoa, when I bought my SC the $%^&head glued the window in the channel also. I'm not sure why ANYONE would do this especially since the channel rubber is cheap and easily replacable. Order the channel rubber and do it RIGHT.

I changed to a new channel rubber.. it does take time to remove the window and align the channel, whatever......Ron

The channel rubber is what holds the window in place? The factory did not use any adhesive?

Well, I will TRY to find out the 411 on this one from Pelican. If the rubber is supposed to hold it, then I will order a new piece.

also try to find the rubber channel alignment specific to your car..

if the glass stays in the channel, what does it matter if it's by rubber or by glue? when do you ever need to remove the glass, unless it breaks? then it's easy enough to carve the remains out

If the channel is not rusty , the rubber piece is a no mess repair, If the channel has rust, glue is the way to go. A rusty channel will make the rubber too tight, therfore causing headaches trying to deadblow the piece on to the glass. Gluing can also be done with everything in the door, the rubber/glass assembly works best all apart at the bench.

I used 3M...........It worked great!
