Buying a Carrera GT - very funny

I couldn't help but swipe this post from another message board and post it here for your enjoyment...

"Because of the huge problems with who was getting the first three allocations at my local dealer . The dealer sent in the 150k months ago while they sorted out who gets the first 3 cars. As a result they have had my uncashed check for months and in fact told me I was third many months ago. But since my car will not be in until 05 they just left my check in the file and never cashed it . Well today they told me they cashed it and handed me a pro forma invoice to sign to verify the options. The actual cost of the car is not 440k but 446,190. The 6k over 440 covers 765 for destination 175 for preparation credit , 200 for computer service charge and 5400 for gas guzzler tax. Well I told my salesperson for 440k Porsche can service their own computer and since the car will be close to half a million out the door, I don't want any gas since I will not be driving it. On account of after paying that much for a car , I will be afraid to pull it out of the garage. So get this! She gives me a great big hug and say's honey yes you will pay for gas guzzler and you have never had your computer serviced like the way we do it. well after the hug I held firm and said.... Ok I will pay it but I won't like it. She then gives me another hug and a snuggle with her rather chesty you know whats, at which point I can tell that her you know whats are real and not after market equipment. And she tells me you will pay it and LIKE it!. So I held firm and said ok... I will pay it and like it but, not pay the 765 dollar destination fee. She then gives me another hug a snuggle and now a wuggle. So I held firm and signed my life away on the car. So after arriving home I felt so cheap and used I couldn't wait to dive in to the latest issue of 911 Porsche world with the CGT on the cover. And on the first page , the editor Chris Horton says yeah I drove it and its a great car, but not worth 4 times a GT3 or 3 times a GT2 or even 10 times a boxster. Its really for people with more money then they know what to do with. (which ain't me). Well gee thanks a lot Chris couldn't you just sugar coat it at least a little. So I call back my salesperson and held firm about getting my deposit back. And she tells me" but sugar you will have a faster car then my GT2 owning friends and my Viper buddys. So I held firm and said Ok. But wait , then my buddy with his viper tells me he just ordered a supercharger. And my other buddy with two GT2s calls and says his 700 HP upgrade kit just arrived..... Needless to say my first official day of being a CGT owner was very stressful."

It's from the 'other' big Porsche discussion board, in their Carrera GT forum

It's sad when you can have that much money to spend and have no idea how to control it. If he can be pursuaded by a pair of non aftermarket "you know whats", it boggles my mind how he could have gotten the money in the first place without having some other sales women screw him out of it. idiot!
Maybe this is why i'll never end up with that kind of a bank statement, i'd actually know what to do with it. And it would all start with a 930 and a few crazy ideas.

You may have missed the humor there... Here is a follow-up post he made:

"she is in fact the "head" salesperson and has been their # 1 seller for over a decade. Knows a ton about Porsche's. Whats even more funny is that up until two years ago. I had another salesperson, and she stole me from him. The losing salesman complained to the GM, and complained that she was always hugging and rubbing on me! But I actually asked to switch because he knew nothing about the product line and only would talk to me if I was in to buy a car. She loves to talk Porsche and shoots the breeze every time I or my friends come in. She is a real car person and works hard for you, great salesperson."

Hey where's that shop!? I want a hug too

All he has to do to combat the supercharged Viper and the upgraded GT2 is pay a visit to RS Tuning or Ruf in Germany. But then he must be prepared to get hugged by Reinhold or Alois I'm sure that's not the same

I had dinner with my brother-in-law last night. He tracks his modified Subaru WRX. He was telling me about this incident one day where he was racing a guy with a GT3. The guy was a newbie on the track and lost. My bro-in-law had a chat with the guy after - the GT3 had all the racing options, including rolling cage etc. etc. My bro-in-law asked him when he installed the cage. The guy said that he ordered it pre-installed from the factory. My bro-in-law asked him whether it was inconvenient for him to have the cage in the car when he drives it off the track. The guy tells him "no", he has another GT3 that he uses for the road. This one was for the track.

Ahhh... to be rich...

Sad? That's not the first word that comes to mind. Fantastic, amazing, marvelous and Yippee! seem more appropriate.

Thank goodness the ultra-rich love to indulge themselves. It's more fun for us to watch than if they stuffed it all in their mattresses. I don't begrudge them their wealth or silly spending one bit. If I win the lottery I'll join them and you are all welcome to laugh at all the silly crap I buy that I don't need and pay too much for!

Is this for real? When I first read it a couple days ago I thought it was just a very well-done parody. You guys are acting like this really happened...?

True, when the money isn't ill gotten. As in Enron, or well, you get the idea.

And if wasn't for rich folk, we wouldn't get the trickle down technology and hardware. Plus, all new cars are eventually used cars, and I have a shot at those! Well, some of 'em at least!

somewhere out there, are a bunch of guys on a LADA BBS talking about saving up for some new fuses, and how to combine chicken wire and stucco for rust repair.
They are laughing at the Pelican BBS guys and their talk of $1800 used fuchs, $3000 Ps & Cs, and $5/ liter synthetic oil.
It is all relative.....

Seems like it was written by a guy who has been on both sides of the financial hill. He seems to appreciate the humor in buying a 1/2 million dollar car and also appreciate the fact that he can. I would suspect I would feel the same given the chance. And I would buy a CGT too.
Can I get a wuggle?

I wasn't attacking the guy for what he bought, on the contrary, if i had the money i would definitely buy the cgt. BUT, what i thought was sad, is how this woman influenced his money. Maybe you married guys just relate to what he did in other ways and i being single don't.
