Smog question in Cali

Hey all,

My friend's 74 has been Smog exempt since Jan 1st of 2003, and according to the Cali Smog website the 30 year rule still applies. I'm guessing that my 1975 will be exempt in 4 weeks, can anyone verify that?

Thanks!

I believe that is correct.

Man, it was nice opening the registration bill and not seeing the "Must be Smogged" crap. Muhahhahaha never again!

thats the way i understand it too. there is a guy that put a turbo in a 75, i think its "cowtown" here on pelican and that was his take. he stated that he did some reasearch to arrive at that impression. try IMing him.

Yup. I'm counting down the days...and hoping Dean Florez doesn't have any last minute shenanigans up his sleeves.

It's not only Florez....it's any State legislator that owes someone a favor. The truly sad part is...THAT moron did not even understand the ramifications of the the bill he proposed.

The one before him was twit that chased Dobey Gillis' on the black and white TV show....she WAS so clueless it was funny. She only figuered that it would get old clunkers off the street....did not even guess that it would screw with collectors of GOOD running cars as well.

They wanted me to re-smog mine after I did it just last year when I bought it, so I took a non-op on it for 6 weeks. Once I go to the DMV in January, can they still ask for a smog or...?

Just one question....Is the 30yr mark based on Model Year or Year of Manufacture ????

Or does the DMV just assume the model year and manfactured year ar the same. Which is not necessarily true.

Anyone know ??
