Chasin Tail..

I played a little bumper tag tonight along Vista Del Mar with a sweet Canary Yellow Carrera Cab (If you are here man you have a sweet car)

His had a Tail on it, Carrera style I think and it really looked great on the Cab.

Ive been thinking about adding one to mine because it feels a little unstable when the Speedo is leaning to the right. It shakes a little at 100, and I dont like to get above 110 cause it doesnt feel very safe. I recently added Bilsteins which helped...but this shake feels like the car is being wind blown..

My car has a front spoiler....so the question I have is how much of an improvement with adding a tail have at high speeds?

Excuse this question if it sounds too stupid... Ive never driven a 911 at high speeds before with a tail, so I dont have anything to compare to.

Turbo Cab

40-50mph faster than your speed feels fine with the tail.
Some local laws may have been stretched a little bit.

I once reached 245 kph (over 150 mph) in a straight line on my Carrera COUPE, which has both standard 3.2L issue front "spoiler" and rear "wing", and other than that I kept that speed for only about 10 seconds or so (it was a bit higher than the speed limit...), the car felt amazingly stable. This for a 200.000 k (125.000 miles) car with no record of the age of the shocks...

And, just in case you might be wondering, two days a go I got a letter from my insurance company, congratulating me on my recorded history showing outstanding statistics during the last two years of driving (caused me a few private chuckles there; my wife grants me quite another -non scientific- evaluation!)

I have a 1976 turbo tail on my 911SC when I do DE's. The tail make sthe car more stable above 70 mph and if there are cross winds. I take it off when there is a big time gap between DE's because I like the look of my car without the tail better.
