In honor of Wayne's new Ferrari....

In honor of Wayne's new Ferrari, I present, from December 1981, Car and Driver's "Sports Car Showdown: Delorian vs. the World"
(1.4MB Adobe Acrobat file)

In the track test portion, the staff managed to roll the 911SC.

Not to mention how spoiled we are with the performance of modern cars. A current Honda sedan can nearly match the performance of most of them.

When I was a kid the new 1984 911 was the ultimate sports car. It just did everything so well on paper. Please all SCWDP MFIWDP, and others I love all 911's for thier individual merits. Anyway, once in a magazine I read about a letter which was sent to Road and Track stating the attributes of the Lamborghini Countach. To paraphrase the reply from the editor " You mistake us for someone who cares how fast the top speed of a Countach is. The only car that is faster, quicker, handles better, stops better, is quieter, and gets better fuel mileage than a Porsche is another Porsche." I have lived by this ever since.

Maybe if they're driving 944s. My car is a lot of things, but quite sure isn't one of them! Not that I care, mind you. I like it like that.

Just read the article - I didn't realize that DeLoreans were so underpowered. Here is a car that was 90%+ the price of a 911, but with 130HP! I'm not sure, but I think I have more power in my 1991 Honda Accord. What a POS. Not surprisingly, the 308 got the highest marks on the list. (It was still slower than the 911, though)

Wayne - honestly you could have saved yourself a lot of $$$$. Just by a used 'TOYOTA ' MR2 and put a 911 engine in it.

Enuff said...........

A properly modified Fiero would suffice.
