transmission dogteeth

I just opened my 915 trans to fix the worn out syncro on first I need some advice on what needs to be replaced The dogteeth on first are obviously practically destroyed The slider appears re useable The syncro ring itself on all gears has not worn through the moly layer but obviusly frst needs replacement Second was occasionally hard to engage but the dogteeth ,syncro and slider appear perfect . The biggest question I have involves the dogteeth on 3rd,4th,and 5th They are still properly pointed and they were working OK but close examination shows wear on the outside edge above the points Is this normal What could cause this? Does the slider contact above the root of the teeth first or could this be ground down by a previous owner making a misshift? Any ideas
I am going to repace only the parts associated with first as the labour to do it again is free and 2,3,4,5 were working fine unless anyone knows why I shouldn,t
John

Can you post a pic? You will get more accurate advice. The dog teeth wear in 2 areas. The points and the inside surface, IIRC. Whatever. You will have the thing popping out of gear if you don't have good looking dog teeth. The synchros are a different part alltogether. Get a picture up for the experts to look at.

I think the problem is caused by your lack of periods to separate sentences. Sorry, I cannot offer any advice though.

Hahaha, funny! That one took a little deciphering to make out. Good luck with the tranny issue. I wish I had the spare $$$$ to dig into mine, because it needs it bad.
