930 Turbo Import numbers?

Just a quick question:

Anyone out here have an idea or willing to make a guess as to how many 911/930 Turbo cars were imported into North America by PCNA between the years of 1976 through 1989?

thanks

I'm only doing this because I'm curious also

Turbos inported to US:
1976..530
1977..727
1978..461
1979..1,200 (mine is #934)
1980 to 1985..none
1986..1,424
1987..438 + 183 cabs + 87 targas = 708 (87 of each style are slant nose)
1988..701 + 591 cab + 141 targas = 1,433 (USA & Canada, there were slant noses but I can't figure out how many)
1989..639 + 109 targas + 600 cabs = 1,348 (USA & Canada)

For a grand total of 7,831.

This data is out of the Porsche 911 Red Book. From 1987 to 1989 the data gets a little weird so I wouldn't rely on it, especially the slant nose data.

Hey Dave, thanks for the great info! This is really good stuff. I really appreciate it.

I am doing a little research on Factory Turbo-Look cars to find out some kind of import ratio. It appears more 930 Turbos were imported EACH year of 1979, 86, 88, & 89 than ALL Factory T-L cars imported from 1984-1989 (1,180). So, according to these numbers for every Factory Turbo-Look, there are more than seven 930 Turbos out there...

As far as I'm concerned, our M-491 optioned "wide body" cars are the best looking production Porsches to date. Just out of curiosity, are 930 Turbos identified with the M491 option?

Thanks for your input!

Cheers!

I just edited the numbers down a little after I realized I hadn't reduced the number for 1988 after I found the discripences with the slant nose option.

As for the option code for a turbo, I don't know. I would think the different serial number would be enough that there wouldn't also be an option code.
