Jackie on SPEED.....

....channel that is

Tonight, 5:00pm (PST) - "Jackie Stewart: The Flying Scot"

Like him or not, it's probably going to be better than another bio of some washed-up NASTYCAR has-been.

Well, that was actually a really good show. The old in-car camera work always amazes me. Why is it that it looks better than the stuff produced today? Has that same quality as the 'LeMans' and 'Grand Prix' movie footage.

He was also a world class skeet shooter, superior hand/eye coordination shine through. I'm a lousy shot, I wonder if this means I'll be lousy on the track? Guess I'll have to wait till next year. BTW, it's always a class move to retire at the top of your game, & in his case, while your still alive.

I don't get Speed ... Channel. I think it might be time to break out the 956/Derek Bell in-car video as a welcome substitution.

Jakie Stewart on Speed will probably be cool, though. Sorry I'm gonna miss it.

Eergg! I taped it (sort of) along with F1 decade like I do each week (I'm bowling durring that time), but I forgot to change the chanel when I left. I was watching my Chiefs get their butts kicked. Man, I taped 3 hours of channel 2 last night. Bummer! Hopefully they will show it again.

I used to love watching races where Jackie was the announcer. He was very passionate about the sport.

Hans Stuck was just on "Test Drive" abusing a new 5 series bimmer on the Nurburgring.

There was a great story in European car a while back by Johannes van Overbeek, about a ride in an M5 Herr Stuck gave him, a lady friend, and one other (all four at the same time) around the North Loop in mostly wet conditions. Overbeek said it was a ride he will remember for the rest of his life. Herr Stuck's mastery of the Ring (learned at his father's side as a boy) and in particular the rain was something that had to be experienced to be believed.

Anybody else notice the error in the CanAm footage from Laguna Seca??? They said it was 1972, so of course, I'm looking for the all-conquering Penske 917/10 L&M cars of Donohue and Follmer blowing everyone away ....... what the f#ck??? There's 2 stinking McLarens in the lead followed by an L&M car, but it's the Lola T-260 L&M car and no Porsches in sight ...... obviously, this race was from 1971.

It *was* a great show...even my wife (who's favorite channel is the "Food" channel) enjoyed it!

SPEED will be repeating it as per the post above.

"Oh and the motor car just took a nasty spin" pause "Now to Chris Econ O'Mackey"....I can still hear the voices from Wide World of Sports. Butchered the last name though.

Amazing how much one guy can accomplish. Even with all that fame and fortune , he still has the same wife!
