Need help with an aftermarket alarm....
Pulled the 911 out of the garage a few hours ago, left her sitting in the driveway to go back inside for a minute. Hopped back in, turned the key, and nada... I just got back home, and am getting ready to troubleshoot, but decided to post here first. I suspect the aftermarket alarm (which I know nothing about...might have some doc on it but I''ll have to dig out what the PO passed along). There is a small toggle switch (reset of some sort???) near the front hood release, and I can hear a clicking behind the panel the release is on. Also the alarm LED is flashing in a whacky manner. I keep her on a tender, she fired right up (as usual) initially in the garage so I'm sure I'm good there without even checking. Of course I have a spare DME relay, but based upon what I'm seeing/hearing, I'm fairly certain it's the alarm. I have no problem removing the alarm completely, but before I dig in, don't even know where to begin...any suggestions? Heading outside to do a bit of "research", and will check back later. Thanks in advance!!!

One time when my batt went low and when I recharged and hooked back up to car the alarm went off ,disabled the car. My remote which lit up would not shut it off.I tried a bunch of things including calling the manufacturer but they are not much help and I can understand why.
Anyhow my fix was a new battery in my remote. |

For what it's worth, my aftermarket alarm used to go off while I was driving so I just pulled the fuse for the alarm. I didn't want to unhook it because I've heard horror stories about not getting the car going again. Quite frankly, nobody pays attention to alarms anymore and if someone wants the car enough, they'll get it somehow. Good luck.

One way to reset the alarm is to disconnect and reconnect the battery (negative cable). This should bring the alarm back to normal functioning.
You may look for your alarm's manual in the internet. Try to find the alarm box, most likely under the dash, the brand and model should be stamped on it. Hope this helps, Max.

It's OK now! Thank you all for your suggestions. Although I had tried the toggle switch earlier with no success, as I was getting ready to remove the panel (where the hood release is), I could hear the alarm (behind the panel) seeming to cycle on/off with an intermittent "tick-tock" lasting for approx 30 seconds. During one of these tick-tock intervals, I reset the toggle and apparently that was the trick to re-enabling the ingnition kill mode. I was so proud of my "girl" that I just had to go for a short spirited drive on the "back roads"...all is well in my universe now

^lol. I wonder what my hp to weight ratio gain was for removing the fuse??? I knew she was moving a little quicker (or maybe it was the penny I took out of the ashtray). Enjoy

Many of these systems will automatically reset if you use the key to unlock the locked driver's door.
On the other hand reaching through an open window to unlock the door will set the alarm off for certain sure. |

If the module goes belly up, what then? There are other less invasive methods of securing your vehicle w/o stranding you because of it. Sherwood |
