I went back and checked, and the article was titled "I still get Goose Pimples" and it was either written or published during the summer of 1966. So do any of you collector types (Warren? Cegerer?) have copies of SI going that far back?

Funny you should mention Steve McQueen.
I was Just got back from Santa Paula,The little town in Ventura were he last lived. I go there from time to time in the SC to just chillout and have met a few people in the town on my visits. Plus theres a little 2nd generation Mexican resturant called Vinces there that has the best chili verde. This tip I picked up a 911S in one of the antique shops that is NOS from 1983. One of the antique shop owners I've met knew Steve and said he was quite a collector. ![]() |

Jeez, I've never heard of it John and I've read French Kiss!! Sounds like a "must find" though. I bought some old 60/70's S.I.'s from a guy on eBay a while back. I'll see if I can find his contact info!

thats a really cool old husky (husqvarna) he's on in that cover shot. he must have crashed it though the front fender is gonzo.
hes the man and always will be. did any of you guys ever see "On any Sunday"? great motorcycle flick. my tribute to him? my dog answers to mcqueen, the AKC regognizes the hound as virgil mcqueen. virgil was his charcters name in the great escape.

Yeah, the bike articles (both the Cover Article in SI pictured below and a separate article in Popular Science) happened after the car article.
