I saw a new (I hadn't seen it before) book at Borders today, Porsche 911: 1963 - 1971, by Brian Long.
![]() It seems kind of a weird timespan ('73 seems a better place to stop), but flipping through it quickly it looked like it might be a decent addition to your Porsche library, looked to have lots of period photos. Does anyone have it? Is it good, full of errors, much interesting info?

I wonder why that time-frame as well. It's like he stopped with the change in gear shift pattern or something! I'll be on the lookout for it when I go to Borders later (looking to read up on 944s and 928s).

I got this when it first came out a few months ago. I like it because I was looking for a book that
covered the start of the 911 so I could find out more about my 66. This is the first of 3 books in the series, the next being 71-77, the last 77 to 87. I like it because it focuses on early 911's instead of covering all the years. a quote from the publisher's site: "Covers design, the 901 prototype, the early 911s (including 912s) and the 2.2 litre cars. First shown as the 901 prototype at the 1963 Frankfurt Show, the 911 quickly built on the Porsche legend established by the 356 models. A process of continuous evolution has kept the 911 fresh for nearly 40 years, while impeccable build quality has ensured that most of even the very earliest cars have survived as desirable and usable classics. This is the first of a set of books which will chronicle in great depth the history of the evergreen 911, from the earliest design studies to the water-cooled cars of today. " at 50 bucks another p car book may be hard for some to swallow, but you can get it for 30 or 35 from amazon, which is a good price for this book. a nice addition to your collection, you can never have too many porsche books.... Tim

Cool, that's what the kids'll be getting me for X-mas.
'87 seems like a weird place to stop too. Tim, I hope you've got Paul Frere's book Porsche 911 Story, if you want info, that books got it.
