Oil Fumes Coming into Car

Hi, I am looking for a little help on an issue I have. Ever since I put in my new oil thermostat I have been noticing oil smoke coming through the vents in my '71s. I can't see any oil coming from the thermostat or the oil pressure regulator, but I know somehow oil is getting to the heat sinks on the top of the engine and burning off and into the vents. I want to take the engine shroud off, but it looks involved. I have carbs so its pretty easy to get at, but there are a lot of bolts and connections holding the shroud to the top of the engine. So, I am looking for ideas. I can't even drive the car because I smell like an oil refinery when I get out so I need to figure out something. Pleeeease help.

Zac

Did you replace the oil thermostat o-ring? If not I imagine oil is coming from the thermostat and eventually running down onto the heat exchangers.

Yes, I did replace the o-ring ont he thermostat. I have looked and I don't see any oil around the thermostat. I just looked at that shroud and it doesn't look like any fun to pull off. still searching...

When I had this symptom I found that my headstuds had broken and oil was leaking down onto the exchangers and burning. But this is only my experience...
