ARP Rod Bolts in a 3.2

How much - if any - "margin" do ARP rod bolts in a 3.2 give one in the way of increased rmps? In other words, I know that the stock rod bolts were a limitation when it comes to higher rpms, but I was wondering what quantifiable benefit the ARP bolts provide...

Thanks,

Mike

about another 1,000 rpm if you fix up the vavle train at the same time -- or so 2 race engine builders have told me.

But you'll need to change cams and more to realize any power up there.

Well, for better or for worse I am not really looking to hang out at higher rpms - I had always heard that stock rod bolts were the limiting factor to higher rpms. I had inferred from that statement that probably anything much above the stock redline was potentially dangerous for 3.2 rod bolts and was wondering if the ARP bolts in my engine really afforded me any margin.

I used to routinely run my 2.7 over 7000 rpm on the track without any dire consequences, but have been reluctant to thrash the 3.2 in a similar manner.

Thanks,

Mike

Wise man. IMO, any race app of a 3.2 should have rod bolts upgraded, just because you will spend time bouncing off of the rev limiter. They are great motors other than that weakness.

I think the (smaller) bolts are the limiting factor -- but once you fix that, you get a new limiting factor. I know the guy that did my street 3.2L used Ti valve keepers and new springs - Osco I think. That's nice cuz if I change cams for more oompa later I don't have to mess with any of that.

Maybe Steve W. will monitor this thd and answer your exact question. I don't know what the failure rate would be for your use and the stock bolts.
