910 clone!

I just got the new issue of excellence. A guy has reproduced, almost completely from scracth, an awesome 910.

Truly a sight to behold:D

cowtown 12-15-2003 02:22 PM

I am in awe of that guy's abilities. To be able to machine titanium pieces in his garage, and to have them come out looking like that. What a spectacular achievement.

And now he's getting started on car #2 of the two-car deal (917, I think).

Jack Olsen 12-15-2003 03:18 PM

I loved the R Gruppe sticker on the 910's window.

dd74 12-15-2003 03:21 PM

Jack - can you scan photos of the 910? I can't get to the newsstand yet.

Thanks.

cegerer 12-15-2003 03:38 PM

Not sure if it's kosher to scan the entire article, but here's a couple of photos:

And at the risk of igniting another flame war, you either get it or you don't! :D

I get it! Gorgeous! Thanks for the scan.

Jamie79SC 12-15-2003 03:54 PM

What's not to get. That car was (and now is) a work of art.

cegerer 12-15-2003 03:57 PM

I'm just referring to the little window sticker ......

Doug E 12-15-2003 05:27 PM

I actually read that article twice because at first I was in disbelief. Truely a work of art.

Jeremy Cottrell 12-15-2003 05:43 PM

I get it, the real question is how do I get IT!!!

Rick Cabell 12-16-2003 04:52 AM

910

I am working a similar deal. The car isn't done yet, but I will sell "to finish yourself".
If anyone interested, let me know.........http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1071582720.jpg

another pic

I won't turn this into a advertisment, but here is another pic.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1071583061.jpg

A real one

Here's a real one. For a mere $500K

The day I saw it I was picking up my humble SC. I was so excited, it was hard to appreciate what I was seeing!

makaio 12-16-2003 05:44 AM

I just recieved my new Excellence yesterday as well. Since this subject did not get brought up sooner, does that mean everyone is getting them around the same time now? Instead of the west coast guys recieving their's a week after Kurt.

cegerer 12-16-2003 06:13 AM

Got mine 1 week ago in Mich.

BTW, I'm still trying to figure out why this guy decided against spending $25,000 for an original body. Seems like he's GOT to have more than that into sweat equity, etc. in building his own!!!! Although he did mention he now has the ability to produce additional bodies.

Rick: what's the story on your's? Is this an original body?

Elombard 12-16-2003 06:16 AM

I have not seen my Excellence yet (East coast). That wont be street legal right? Just a race car?

Very cool.

Scott Clarke 12-16-2003 07:13 AM

No sign of mine. Oregon is always late.

greglepore 12-16-2003 08:15 AM

Well, now I know what I want for Christmas.

Wil Ferch 12-16-2003 08:37 AM

Funny...I just received the article yesterday..
Not taking *anything* away from this guy's work...but do others see what I seem to see? Some shots of the car look "spot-on"..yet there is one picture that seems that the proportions are all wrong. Anyone else?

JmuRiz 12-16-2003 09:22 AM

As of Sunday in Baltimore, they still have the one w/ BB2 in it. Eastcoast is typically latter in getting theirs, right?

Nathan

PS: That 910 is hot....so much work must have gone into that puppy...wonder if they looked at the gunnarracing web sight for ideas ;)
