The ultimate update thread
Well backdating is fun and all but i was wondering if anyone has 'updated' their cars. Anyone do 996 door panels or boxster shifters or anything? Please post your updates/ customs!!!
Everything and anything counts!!! |
Well, I put a 964 read deck lid on my car, SC cooling system and SC engine. Do those count? :)
Crap! My car won't know if it is going or coming! What a "Bastard" ... a deserving name :D Wuf! Wuf! |
haha souk, Mines alot like yours is! I have an sc engine and tranny in my 1974 911 with a 930 tail and later 930 rocker vents that suck up air and cool the brakes:p
currently its at the body shop since i crashed into my friends mustang.... getting RUF front bumper :) |
CTR front bumper is nice! Did you get it on the group buy? I still don't know how many people got in on that..lost rack.
And if you had to hit anything..glad it was stang...just kidding. Sorry about your accident. |
haha, ya my friend Zav's mustang likes it up the ass! JK but i seriously shouldve taken pictures... No I didn't get in on the group buy I asked the guy at the body shop if he could order it from MA shaw instead of buying a stock middle year bumper
|
PS: I hit him at about 20 and his car is raised in the back and mines lowered in the front and his rode up mine like a ramp... just backwards! The stang crushed the front bumper, hood, and then the fender being torn off :(
|
Speaking of backdated cars - I wonder how many people would be interested in buying one?
I know I would not. I wouldn't know what parts to buy, plus I'd wonder if putting Part A from 1991 with Part B from 1982 would eventually cause some kind of problem. I wonder what perceptions are of resale value on hybrid cars? |
i dunno about resale..... but what we mean by backdating or updating is usually referring to exterior and interior designs and such
|
brawlins: answered your question on the backdate thread :)
|
Do 964 cams count?

Brother Souk...
A true bastard "blends" the old with the new... RSR bumps, 3.8 RS wing with 90's version RSR door panels. On an 84 Targa. Serious Bastard. It's all good!!! |
Wuf! Wuf!
There is a reason why I like the BASF commercials so much..,I love the philosophy... We take tha best of things (qualified by the owner) and make the package better! |
antenna windshield was easy
internal regulator done, but not the best idea oil seals is brainless single piece sunroof air deflector and rails CD engine oil bypass gizmo, etc fender oil cooler 8 pole circuit breaker panel, not really a newer model up grade Carrera seats sport engine and tranny mounts |
Souk :I think my car qualifies for GruppeB Status, how do i get a number?
RoninLB: what is an antenna windshield? -curious because my antenna is fugly and i dont want to put it back on my precious new fenders |

I drilled a hole into the trunk where the antenna connection is located on the window frame.. then I need the antenna amplifier. I read here that you can use a piece of long wire on the outside of the window that is tucked under the rubber if you don't use the newer antenna windshield. You gotta snake the wire outside. It was covered on this BBS within the past 2 or 3 weeks |
I built this car on a '75 S. I guess you could call it a mild update.
