what's a custom front trunk sub box worth?

just wondering what the collective gurus would say.

the po on my car installed a pretty trick subwoofer and amp enclosure for the front trunk. it fits really snug in the top most portion fo the front trunk and has a 10" sub in it which is downfiring. The box is routed to the front kick panels with some hard plastic tubing (approx. 5 inch diameter).

i pulled the box to install an elephant racing strut brace and i'm looking to sell it. it does look like the po spent a lot of time on it (the bottom is done up in some type of fiberglass cloth which conforms to the trunk floor really clean). the carpeting is all done on it and it's a clean match with the rest of the trunk. i'll be keeping the amp, but i'm looking to part with the box itself and the sub speaker (slightly ripped and probably should be replaced). any thoughts on where should price it at? i have no clue what a one off item like this should be.

thanks

david

You mean that there were subs in the trunk? Other than the "thump" how could you enjoy it?

I would say photograph it and measure it and post it on eBay. It probably has little value since it's custom to a P-car and most of those are custom jobs (it's been a while since my car stereo days, but that's the way it used to be ;) )

I hope you didn't factor sales value into the price of the car. ;)

I did a few speaker-boxes this spring. Seems like custom boxes from the pros were running about $300 a pop, no speaker. Granted, this is for a P-car, but it ought to fit virtually any P-car, because the trunk shape hasn't changed a lot in the last 30 years.

Alternately, you could keep the thing to add weight up forward, draw the center of gravity farther from the rear axle. (grin)

Good luck,

Dan

Do you still have the sub box, any pics?

I think the board member that goes by Bell has a setup like this. He would probably have a good idea as to the value of it. He also has many reasons why this is an ideal place for a sub. That is where I installed mine also.

Sub box for woofers

I just completed a sub box for the rear foot area and was blown away by the sound. Here's a link to some pictures. I had a box in the truck and it just didnt cut it. Check it out
