Question PPI in OKC Area?

Anyone know of a good shop in the Oklahoma City area for a PPI? I might be going down there this weekend to look at a 911T. Thanks

Matt,

I used to live in OKC, but have been gone for three years so things could have changed.

Only independent P car only shop I know of is Dumonts. I hear they are good, but not cheap.

There is a fantastic tech at the Porsche dealer. His name is Scott.

The Saab dealer does a lot of highline used cars and used to always have a 911 or two around, though not much anymore. Owners name is Sam Flippo. The name of the dealership is BRI Imports. Call and ask him if he has a tech that can do your PPI. He used to have a former factory Porsche tech working for him.

In Edmund (just north of OKC) there is a great shop you need to stop by. They mostly sell parts but if they have time they could do the PPI for you (they would be my first choice if they can get you in), but they stay covered up so I don't know if they'll be able to. You need to stop in though, lots of 911 parts and other neat stuff. Owner's name is Cory. Great guy. Shop is Planet9Eleven. Huge Ebay used Porsche parts seller. I check his auctions every week for things I "need".

Have fun!

Russ

I second that about Corey and planet 911. I have also had good experience with Bob Moore Porsche, the local dealer.

Well Jim, for starters it's a complete car, drives and everything if you can believe that . It's a 70T, supposed to be mechanically perfect, rebuilt tranny and new clutch, nice looking interior minus a few headliner rips, a few rust bubbles here and there and supposedly a little on the suspension pan, according to the owner it's a 20 foot car right now. Sounds like a good driver, until the modification bug hits me and I tear it apart, but that sounds like a good project for next winter. That's all I'll say for now, I don't want to jinx it. I'm heading down there this weekend, it's only 4hrs for me. kepperly, are you involved in the Wichita Region PCA? It seems like I've seen your name on the website, as soon as I get a P-car I'd like to join up, meet some others who share my sickness. Any body else on the PPI issue, I know there's some Okies on here, so don't try to hide from me.

Alright, I know that we Kansans may be a slight sore point around Oklahoma right now, but really, I need some help. Just like the Oklahoma defense, oh, did I say that out loud? Ahem, Darren Sproles, oh excuse me, I must be getting a cold, I sure hope it's not the flu. Must be low on those White blood cells, but I always thought those were overrated anyway. They certainly fold under pressure, even though some people don't seem to notice, especially not this last weekend. Now I've sealed it, there's no way I'm getting advice now.

You might check with the Jackie Cooper imports locations in OKC. They sell Porsche's and Merc here in Tulsa and I know they sell some high end brands in OKC. They may have some qualified mechanics there.
BTW...witty comments accepted about the game, but we'll be in Nawlins going for our 7th or 8th national championship.

The Buffs are coming out of their Saddam-hole next season to kick all your butts.
Matt, try to make sure the shop you're looking at for the PPI understands the rust issues with early cars and know exactly what to look for. Good Luck! Oh yeah...Go Buffs!

Yeah, there's always that whole "national championship" thing, sadly, I don't really have a comeback to that. Go Buffs!?

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to find Jim, I thought there were more Oklahoma folk on here than this. Maybe they're all too busy celebrating their luck of White for heisman.

Matt,

If you can get in to see Cory at Planet 9 Eleven he is definitely your man. He knows all things Porsche and will be a good contact for future parts which you will need. Call him.
1733 S Fritz Ave
Edmond, OK 73013
Phone: 405-330-9116

If you don't get him, or if he does not have time to look at your car, go with Scott at the dealer (Bob Moore Porsche-Infiniti 12920 N Broadway Ext. Oklahoma City OK 73114 (405) 748-8000). He's been working on the cars for many years and is a great guy. Cory actually used to be the service writer at the dealer before he left to do his own thing. He can tell you who is best to talk to there to set up the appointment. Or perhaps he will know of someone else who can check your car out.

If any other locals respond, they may be able to give feedback on Dumont. I never dealt with them because I took my cars to Cory or Scott (during a brief time when Scott had left the dealership). Bob Dumont is (or was) the only independent Porsche specialty shop in town. They should be familiar with all the weak points to check on an early 911, but I personally cannot vouch for them. They are located near downtown OKC while the dealership and Cory are both north of town (closer to KS).

This is the info you are looking for. Trust me

Good luck,

Russ

I've been lobbying the attendees at the weekly Porsche Club Breakfast here in Tulsa to check out this BBS. Its a pretty good group and one of the guys has a 73RS. They seem to be pretty involved with racing their cars and speak very highly of Hallett just west of town. I have to get over there to check it out. We do need more people on here from Oklahoma. I see pleny of 911's here in town.
