This must be another misktake!

Remember, Porsche doesn't race and doesn't build lightweight racecars!

Repeat "Porsche builds big trucks" . . .

Seriously, while the Factory does not actually race right now, the Porsche Motorsports division seems to be pretty involved in racing as the victories attest!

I hope some of the modern Porsche myths can be expelled with this RSR.

BR,

Kurt

Does anyone else think the nose looks like it is rip for a return to round headlights?
Look at the fenders, the headlights don't look like a 996 headlight assembly.

The specs on the Porsche website say the RSR has "sequential six-speed dog type transmission, straight cut gear"...the inside of my SC tranny appeared to have teeth meshed on an angle. So when they say "straight cut", do they mean unmeshed like the reverse gear? Does this somehow improve performance?

I phrased that very poorly but I hope y'all know what I mean.

NOTE: Driver carries less than $.02 of knowledge.

Helical cut gears like these in a 915 are used for quietness in street cars, they are less efficient at transferring torque

Straight cut gears will have an angle of 90&deg. The advantage is more efficient transmission of power, the disadvantage is more gear whine. They will still be constant mesh

Wow, cool, thanks. I've always wondered why my tranny seemed to have more than one gear design. My reverse gear is pretty loud. I wonder what the gearbox would sound like in this RSR car? With an 8500 rpm redline it must be deafening.

"I expect Alex Job and Kevin Buckler to kick some Ferrari butt next year with these, they are beautiful to look at!!!!"

Supposedly Ferrari is coming out with a new car with about 100 more Hp. And rumor mill says Ferrari is fielding at least a factory supported team with factory drivers next season. Should be a lot of fun!
