New Pelicanhead / Porsche addict
Hey guys,
I've been reading the threads for sometime now and have decided to register and introduce myself. My name is Vincent Mares and I have a passion for VW's and Porsches. I live in the SF Bay area and am on my third Porsche right now, an 81' SC stripped down, lightwieght driver with a 964 style body. (attached an old photo) I also have an ongoing project: a 1971 911E Targa, of which I purchased from a woman with the last name "Carrera" on 9-11-00!! (freaky) This car is a stripped out, RS bodied speedster project with all the work being done myself. I also have a rally-look 63' bug with judson-supercharged 40 hp motor. My first Porsche was an awsome 86.5 928S. Great car but I am a rear-engined, air-cooled nut. I love the 911's and I seem to be of a younger generation of p-car enthusiast. I get alot of snobbery from some of the events I've been to. Yeah, I can't afford a 300HP twin-plug RSR motor autographed by Jurgen barth, or that all-matching garage queen 911S with Piech's fingerprint on the tach. But I have fun just the same getting my hands dirty while learning about my 911's. Enough of my ranting. Just thought I'd give a shout out to all of the Pealicanheads and I hope to contribute to the forum when I can. Thanks and happy holidays, Vince ![]() |

Vince - Welcome. You will fit in good around here - snobbery is limited. We want pics of all your projects! Sound like fun.

Thanks all. Az911, the side rockers where on the car when I bought it. They look cool but interfere with changing out the t-bars. Thinking of changing them to the standard 964 type. Wheels are black "design 90" with handpainted (by me) center caps. Wheels are long gone and have been replaced with '02 BBS lightweights covering yellow 993 calipers on all four corners. Its kind of my daily-driver/project car. I will post photos of my long-hood after the holidays. Vince

Vince,
Very nice ride you have there! I have the same upgrade kit on my car as well except my car is black. I purchased the kit from these guys at Better Bodies Motor Sports. The nice thing about having a updated SC is that it qualifies you to be a double agent for both SCWDP and GuppeB. Last edited by smestas; 12-17-2003 at 02:14 PM.. |
